The Best Handgun Range Bags:
Below are some great range bags, from some of the most trusted brands to some that are not as popular, but give the top range bags a run for their money.
The Reebow tactical range bag is one of those bags that doesn’t have a popular name behind it so you are not paying extra for a brand name. The bags material is made of heavyweight 600D nylon fabric (If that means anything to you) so it’s very durable, also the zipper does not catch or jam. The bag has a capacity to hold 4 pistols, but in my experience it can hold 3 a lot more comfortably. The Reebow bag can also hold two sets of ear protection, two sets of eye protection and more items in the main compartment you may need such as ammunition, cleaning supplies, etc. The best part about this range bag is it has a separate compartment for extra magazines, and can hold up to 6 double stacked mags. If you are looking for a quality bag without the price a name brand offers this is the range bag for you.
The Osage is a spacious bag, and one of our favorites range bags. This bag is one of the higher rated bags, and it comes in two different sizes the light duty and the standard size. The light duty measures 13.5 x 10.5 x 7.5 Inches, so it’s a good size for 2 or so handguns, and 250 rounds of ammunition and some other necessities you will require at the range. The bag has built in dividers, for your handguns, as well as pouches for your extra magazines. No doubt the light duty, is small, so if you plan on spending a lot of time at the range, shooting long guns, or just like to carry a few more items, then the standard range bag is your best bet.
The Standard Osage range bag is a bit larger, measuring 18x13x10 Inches. This range bag is about the size of a duffle bag, and has dividers to separate your handguns, ample space for ammunition, glasses, ear protection, magazines, cleaning gear etc. If you are not a fan of the dividers, you can remove them to make the main compartment larger. The overall quality of the bag is good, providing it has durable zippers, strong material, and simply well put together, and deserves to be on our top spot for best range bags.
5.11 is an extremely popular brand known for making quality products, so it should be of no surprise that the 5.11 range bag is on the list of best range bags. A little bit on the high end of the spectrum but well worth every penny, the range bag is made of durable material and is a highly efficient pistol range bag, equipped with padded storage separators, for caring multiple pistols. One of the best features of this bag is, it comes with a removable brass tote, to collect all of your brass for reloading (I always hated putting my brass in a side pocket). The bags hand and shoulder straps are of high quality and feel very durable making them better to hold more weight than the other bags listed, so if you use your range bags to carry a lot of ammo, this bag is a great contender. The 5.11 range bag has many pockets to organize all your gear, as well as a magazine slots, the slots can hold 8 double stacked mags or 16 single stacked magazines. If you want a simple, quality bag, and don’t mind spending a little more, then the 5.11 is a good bag for you.
This is one of my personal favorites, because I love backpacks, I think they are more practical, more comfortable and easier to carry. The GPS tactical range backpack is absolutely awesome, it has plenty of compartments to organize your gear, and guns perfectly. The Backpack comes with three softshell cases that holds one pistol each and 4 double stacked magazines, and makes it extremely easy to access your tools, and you never have to dig around for stuff. Most bags start to accumulate gear at the bottom of the bag, but this backpack seems to keep everything organized and easy to reach. The bag has each pocket labeled so it’s easy to find stuff, when you have not been in it for a while. This may sound great and all but it really comes down to quality. The zippers seem to be made to last, and the overall stitching including the strap stitching are durable and can carry a heavy payload. When looking at the quality on the inside of the bag, the liners in the pistol cases are a little on the skimpy side, but seem to do the job, most of the wear and tear will be on the outside, like the straps and the zippers. If you are looking for a quality range backpack this one seems to do the trick, overall good quality and not overly priced earning its right as one of the best gun range backpacks on the market.
G.P.S has another version of the bag, it has similar dimensions but is made of 100% nylon for extra durability, and a hardier external shell. The external shell makes the bag able to stand on its own without the strap that goes up and over the backpack above. The backpack has all the same features such as three soft pistol cases to easily stow away.
Another great option is the M&P tactical range bag. The M&P range bag just like the others has separators for your firearms, a duel main zipper, a separate lodge for magazines, and many different pockets for easy access. Just like the 5.11 range bag this one also comes with a brass tote to collect all your extra brass you may want to use for reloading. If you have a Smith & Wesson you know they are quality tools, and there range bag offers nothing less. The quality is very impressive with Metal zippers with nylon zipper pulls, rubber foot skids, and a strong outer nylon material. Measuring 22 inches in width 14 in height and 10.5 depth, this bag is a great size to hold most of your gear, and is definitely one of the best shooting range bags.
